 Pilot Plant Unit​

 
The Pilot Plant Unit has been set up in 2006 to help in the development of new products from raw materials available on the local market. With the assistance of experts from the Chinese Agricultural Technical Team, a number of fruit and vegetable products have been developed such as soyabean curd (Tofu), waxgourd preserve, white radish pickle, sweet potato crisps, mango preserves since 2007

Food Product Development at the Pilot Plant Unit, FSTD

Thirty-two participants attended a training of four hours' duration on Mango-Ginger products on 05-06 September 2023.  The training sessions were delivered by staff of the Food Science and Technology Division (FSTD) at the Pilot Plant Unit in the Food Technology Laboratory, Agricultural Services, Réduit.

Mango-Ginger is an underutilised crop and was obtained from Plant Genetic Resources Unit, Agronomy Division. An additional short training will be dispensed on 12-13 September on Dehydrated vegetables and herbs. To note that Pilot Plant Unit has been organizing training since 2015 and that the current training sessions are being organized following the interest expressed during les Assises de l'Agriculture held in March 2023​
