Services and Facilities to Producers of Tobacco

The Tobacco Board offers the following services and facilities to registered tobacco growers.

· A guaranteed market at pre-determined prices

· Free extension and advisory services

· Issue of Seedbed and Annual Plantation Certificates, free of charge

· Provision of seeds, free of charge

· Provision of interest-free loans for the repairs of barns and sheds, purchase of equipment and other labour saving devices

· Provision of interest-free credit facilities for the purchase of fertilizers and other chemicals used in the production of leaf tobacco.

       INSPECTORATE

The Inspectorate is responsible for; ​​

(i) Control of production

(ii) Advising growers on new technologies, chemicals etc

(iii Inspection of imported tobacco and tobacco products, (cigarettes, cigars, pipe tobacco, etc..)

RESEARCH

Crop research is carried out by Agricultural Research and Extension Unit in collaboration with the Tobacco Board.

The Agricultural Services is responsible for tobacco seeds production.​
